Expressive paper: experiment with medium

Come join us! The Critical Making Lab in the Centers for Digital Scholarship is hosting a series of four collaborative workshop events focused on zines and other expressive paper formats. Throughout this series we will explore the potential of these interactive paper structures as community-based and collaborative forms. Starting with simple zines and flexagons, we’ll expand our horizons to think about different media and ways of assembling more complex structures. We’ll also think together about how material formats can help explore information and algorithmic processes in accessible ways.

All events will be held in-person in the CDS (Snell Library 360). Each event is designed to stand on its own, but you are welcome to attend as many events as you like!

In the second workshop we will experiment with medium, using blank, pre-made zines and other decorative/expressive materials. Feel free to bring any materials you’d like to experiment with: magazine clippings, collage materials, stickers, thread, small textile samples, etc.
