Zooniverse Challenge

*The Fall 2025 Zooniverse Challenge has come to a close. Please check back for updates on the next iteration of the challenge.

The Centers for Digital Scholarship is delighted to present the Zooniverse Challenge! Zooniverse is the world's largest platform for people-powered research, where you can help decipher documents, identify rare animals, help researchers classify galaxies, and more. Contribute to a Zooniverse project each month, tell the CDS about it, and become eligible for a prize! Sign up here to participate!

Step 1: Contribute to a Zooniverse Project

Centers for Digital Scholarship staff have chosen a theme for the Zooniverse Challenge each month. To participate in the monthly challenge, contribute to at least one Zooniverse project. We’ve identified some highlighted projects to get you started, but feel free to choose any Zooniverse project that you’re interested in! If you find a project that you really enjoy, feel free to contribute to the same project each month; you will still be eligible for a prize!

We will be holding monthly informal group sessions to do Zooniverse together on the third Thursday of each month from 3:00–4:00pm in the CDS. Join us and ask questions, eat snacks, and share progress!

Projects for 2025 Fall Semester:

Step 2: Tell the CDS about it!

After you have contributed to a project, just fill out a quick questionnaire about your experience. Centers for Digital Scholarship staff will draw one name each month to win a prize!

All Northeastern students, faculty and staff across all campuses are encouraged to participate in the club.
